While watching the interview, I was reminded of a strong belief I hold which is that who we spend our time with become our role models. When we feel comforted, joyful, motivated, and safe with those close to us, we are provided with the nourishment to move forward in our lives. In my life, one conversation with a positive uplifting and supportive person will make my whole day. Just the energy and tone of the person's voice affects me.
On the other hand, when we feel disempowered, sad, and afraid around certain people, we need to pay close attention and change our environment. Parents and grandparents have great instincts when it comes to the company their children keep...for good reason. Their concern comes from the changes in their children's behavior after spending time with certain people. We can't help but be influenced by our surroundings.
"Birds of a feather flock together" really rings true for me. When we have spent time with those special people in our lives who move us deeply and make us feel positive and motivated, we know we are in the right place...and with the right "flock of birds."
